All the updates on tasks are notified to all its subscribers.
How to Become a Subscriber
You become a subscriber when
you create a task
you are mentioned by someone
you are assigned the task
you comment on a task
You can unsubscribe from a task if you don't want to get the updates, after subscribing, you will only receive notifications when mentioned.
Which notifications are sent
Notifications are sent based on the configuration in Project > Preferences. Here, you can choose to get notified for all activity, only @mentions, or no notifications.
Based on the above criteria, all the subscribers of the tasks are notified for the following events:
Subscriber is mentioned in the task description
A comment is added to the task, message, or document
Description is added to message or document
